Assessment and vaccination
Your appointment includes a pre-travel risk assessment followed by a single dose of the yellow fever vaccine, where clinically suitable.
Certificate issued at your appointment
Your official ICVP certificate is completed and issued during the same visit.

North Harrow Clinic, located inside Health Pharmacy, is a registered Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre authorised to administer the vaccine and issue official certificates.

Most adults and children aged 9 months and over
People travelling to, passing through or living in a yellow fever risk area
Travellers who require an International Certificate of Vaccination
People handling potentially infectious materials at work
People who require a yellow fever booster
Children under 9 months old
Anyone allergic to eggs or chicken protein
Anyone who has previously had a severe reaction to a yellow fever vaccine
People with a weakened immune system or taking immune-suppressing medicines
People receiving dialysis, chemotherapy or radiotherapy
People with a thymus condition or who have had their thymus removed
Anyone with a close blood relative who had a serious reaction to the vaccine
People with a neurological condition that is changing or not yet stable
People aged 60 or over, as rare serious reactions are more likely
People who are pregnant, usually only if travel to a risk area is unavoidable
People who are breastfeeding, particularly an infant under 9 months
Anyone unsure about a past reaction, medicine or existing medical condition

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a yellow fever certificate for my trip?
A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required from travellers over 9 months of age arriving from countries with risk of yellow fever transmission, and for travellers having transited for more than 12 hours through the airport of a country with risk of yellow fever transmission. We check the requirements for your exact route at your appointment.
How long before travel should I have the vaccine?
At least 10 days before you enter a yellow fever risk area, as both protection and the certificate take effect 10 days after vaccination. If you are travelling sooner, book as early as possible and we will advise you at your assessment.
How long does the yellow fever vaccine last?
For most people a single dose provides lifelong protection, and certificates issued in the UK are valid for life. A small number of travellers may be advised to have a booster — we will let you know if this applies to you.
What are the common side effects?
Mild side effects can include soreness at the injection site, headache, muscle aches and a mild fever, usually within the first two weeks after vaccination. Serious side effects are rare. We explain what to look out for at your appointment.
