Frequently asked questions
How many doses of hepatitis A vaccine do I need?
One dose before travel protects for around a year. A booster 6 to 12 months later extends protection to 25 years or more.
How close to travel can I have it?
Ideally at least 2 weeks before departure, but the vaccine can still be worthwhile closer to travel. Book as early as you can and we will advise.
Can it be combined with other travel vaccines?
Yes. Hepatitis A is commonly given at the same appointment as typhoid and other travel vaccines. Combined hepatitis A and typhoid vaccines are also available.
Can children have the hepatitis A vaccine?
Yes, from 1 year of age. Our clinician will confirm suitability at your appointment.
