Do I need the chikungunya vaccine for my trip?
It depends on your destination, current outbreak activity, trip length and your health. We check the latest guidance for your route during your assessment and advise honestly.
Is the vaccine suitable for everyone?
No. Current UK guidance restricts some chikungunya vaccines by age and for people with weakened immune systems. Our assessment confirms whether it is appropriate for you.
What are the symptoms of chikungunya?
Sudden fever with joint pain, often with headache, muscle pain and rash. Joint pain occasionally lasts months. Seek medical advice if you develop these symptoms during or after travel.
How else can I protect myself?
Use repellent throughout the day, wear long sleeves and trousers, and choose screened or air-conditioned rooms. This also protects against dengue and Zika.
