When do I start taking antimalarials?
It varies by medicine, from 1 to 2 days to over a week before entering the risk area, continuing during your stay and for a period after leaving. We explain your exact schedule.
Do children need antimalarials?
Yes, children travelling to risk areas need protection too, with doses based on weight. Bring your child to the assessment or know their current weight.
What if I develop a fever after my trip?
Fever within a year of visiting a malaria area, especially in the first 3 months, needs urgent medical attention. Tell the clinician you have been to a malaria region.
