HPV is a very common virus linked to cervical and other cancers, as well as genital warts.

Assessment and vaccination
We review your age, vaccination history and circumstances, then give the first dose where clinically suitable.
Two or three doses
Younger people usually need two doses, while those starting at an older age typically need three over six months.

Who should consider the HPV vaccine?
Anyone aged 9 to 45 who wants protection, especially those who missed the school programme. It protects against the types causing most cervical cancers and genital warts.
I missed the school HPV vaccine. Is it too late?
No. Catch-up vaccination is effective and worthwhile. From age 15, a 3-dose schedule is used.
Do boys and men need the HPV vaccine?
Yes. HPV causes genital warts and several cancers affecting men. Vaccination benefits all genders.
Do I still need cervical screening after vaccination?
Yes. The vaccine prevents most but not all cancer-causing HPV types, so attending screening invitations remains important.
